The biggest reason to deceive people is boredom. Just as a child gets tired of toys a year or so later, adults can be unhappy with the same old government. Often, couples forget to let the other person in their life feel the thrill and excitement that comes with new attraction and lust.

​2 : Unhappiness in the marriage

People often enter into marriage with the hope that their spouse will provide for them. When they see that their spouse cannot meet such high expectations, they start looking for it elsewhere, often starting a series of unhealthy relationships.

3 : ​Falling out of love

The feeling of falling in love with someone usually doesn’t last forever. The intensity of passion and enthusiasm usually goes away with time. Once the glow is gone, you may realize that love is not there. Or you may feel that you love someone else.

4 : ​Physical or emotional distance

One spouse may be working long hours and rarely at home, and the other may be neglecting themselves. Or, the spouse may be physically present, but not emotionally available. The other tries to connect but the partner backs away emotionally. It often tries to find another who is emotionally and physically present.

5 : Commitment issues

People who have a hard time with engagement are more likely to cheat in some cases. Also, affiliation does not mean the same for everyone. Two people in a relationship have very different views about the status of the relationship, whether it is comfortable or special.

6 : Sexual dissatisfaction

Often sexual dissatisfaction in one’s relationship motivates people to try to find satisfaction elsewhere instead of trying to overcome any sexual dissatisfaction with their spouse.

7 : Low self-esteem

Promoting self-esteem can also lead to infidelity. Having sex with a new person can lead to positive emotions. You may feel empowered, attractive, confident, or successful. These feelings can boost your self-esteem.
